First there is this from The Seoul Times:

The Information Affairs Office of ...[the UAE] Deputy Prime Minister, has published a study entitled "Woman's Rights."

The study analyses these rights as highlighted by international conferences and agreements, within the framework of the international legitimacy. It also indicates the rights and sublime status woman enjoys in the United Arab Emirates.

Girls do better in gym class without boys

High school girls are more likely to exercise vigorously if they're in girls-only physical-education classes that offer a variety of activities such as dancing, aerobics and brisk walking, a new study reports.

And they do better if the school in general promotes activities for girls, says the report in September's American Journal of Public Health.

The Seattle Times
Stitch 'N Pitch Night made its debut at the Seattle Mariners game

Some skepticism preceded Stitch 'N Pitch, too. Kevin Martinez, the team's vice president of marketing, used to rib women colleagues in the M's office who'd knit during their lunch breaks. But then, in a moment of promotional enlightenment, he thought, Hey!

He figured on selling maybe 200 tickets for a knitting event. But more than a week before the game, ticket sales had topped 1,200, prompted, in part, by avid knitters who heard about the event at local yarn shops '” and who blog.

One blog entry on Mossy Cottage Knits read: "Take Me (and My Yarn and My Needles and My Pattern and My Friends) Out to the Ballgame." Immediately, feedback poured in to the blog: What a freaking kickass idea.

i don't really follow sports. lot's of reasons i suppose. health problems prevent me from playing sports or even going to most sporting events. so my access to sports is on television, a virtual wasteland where women's sports are concerned.
