Where do you stand on the "feminist" label?

i can't remember where i saw it, but i recently read something about some women using the womanist instead of feminist... any one have thoughts on that?

personally, i like both words

Based on what I've read, there's a racial distinction between the two... and needing two words for the same thing based on a difference in skin color disturbs me, to be honest.

Because "feminism" became so closely associated with middle class white women, some African-American feminists coined and used the term "womanist" to distinguish that they were talking about issues specific to non-middle-class women and that the issues they were discussing overlap with racial issues.

I'd really like to see us reach a point where "feminism" isn't so heavily bound to the experience of middle-class white women (even though I identify as such) and more inclusive of women and issues from other races and economic backgrounds. I have no reference for how close we are to that point, tho.
