Democrats: ask not for whom the bell tolls...

a rant by Morgaine Swann posted January 13, 2006 - 4:05am

Democrats, and our lack of an opposition party.

... it tolls for your sorry asses if you let Alito be confirmed for SCOTUS.

Note to the big boy bloggers:

This is one of those posts that will scare the shit out of you, but I'm telling the truth here. I'll be damned if I'll show loyalty to a party that won't show some loyalty to me, and plenty of my Sisters are with me.

It’s this simple. The Democrats may or may not win an election with the women, but they cannot win an election without us. If they screw around and lose Roe v. Wade, or any other civil rights, the women in this country will bury the Democratic party. The party has been a complete failure in its role as an opposition to the creeping fascism of the Bush junta, and we’re tired.

This is Democracy’s Last Stand, so get ready to filibuster, or plan on finding new work.
It’s time we had 2 political parties in this country -  we’re all sick of Republican and Republican-Lite.

Lead or get out of the way.
Following you is what got us into the unholy mess.

Stop Alito like your life depends on it
, because for women, that’s exactly what’s at stake – our very lives. This is not about legal jargon, and it’s not about legal precedent – it’s about my uterus, and you’d better make it damned clear that it belongs to no one but me. It is not state property. It is not for some man to decide what I can and can’t do with it, even if I’m married to him. Its mine.

FILIBUSTER Slippery Sam ALITO!

I'm of the same mind. If the senate democrats don't fillibuster alito, and then EVEN ONE of them votes to confirm...

i'm through with the cowards as a party. finished. no money, and i will not vote for a democratic senatorial candidate at the national level.

we should begin working on our pledge, or manifesto, or whatever it'll end up being called.

and then, if what i'm thinking is going to happen, happens we'll have to come up with a knickname for "give-em-hell" harry reid.

the democratic party, as a whole, no longer really cares much about women. so who cares about them?

Time for that new party I was talking about. Can it be the women's party? With a few token men for window dressing?

I'm going to wait until the actual axe falls with Alito, but I'm not hopeful. We're either going to have to form a women's party, or try to talk feminists into defecting to the Green Party. The latter would be easier. The former might be necessary, though. Y'all give me your feedback.
