Nurses sexually harassed![]() words by artemisia posted December 15, 2005 - 10:48pm
no surprise here, but this made me laugh:
oh those poor patients, getting less emotional support just because they tried to feel up the nurse as she leaned over to check their IV. ![]() An interesting aside here is how most of what you read these days about harrassment of nurses is coming from men in the profession. It carries a homophobic undertone and seems to actually be nothing but a tempest in a teapot. I have to say that this is the first I've read about harassment in nursing from the majority perspective. I'm not surprised. John Cook (1)
i went to your blog and saw that you're a nurse. that fact somehow makes your comments much more interesting -your experience versus a vague opinion. i'd be interested in a blog entry about exactly what harrassment you're referring to, what you view as most prevalent or whatever you have to say on the subject. i found your comment on how the fact that women have dominated in the nursing profession has made "care" the focus over "cure" insightful. it just as we ought to expect because women are suppose to "nurture" but men aren't. do you think there are foci missing due to a traditional lack of male nurses? (ie losses due to having a women dominated perspective) Or do the male supervisors "fix" that potential problem? and how about doctors? has that profession benefited from having more females? (1)
