Something is going on in the United Arab Emirates...something surprising...
First there is this from The Seoul Times:

The Information Affairs Office of ...[the UAE] Deputy Prime Minister, has published a study entitled "Woman's Rights."
The study analyses these rights as highlighted by international conferences and agreements, within the framework of the international legitimacy. It also indicates the rights and sublime status woman enjoys in the United Arab Emirates.
The study underlines the great role of H.H. Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak in facilitating the process of development, efficiently and effectively, and boosting woman's status in the United Arab Emirates.
It also indicates her highness' keenness on diversifying woman's contributions in social, economic, political, and cultural domains, affirming that due to Her Highness persistent efforts, the state has promulgated many laws and has taken many objective measures to promote the rights and duties of woman.
It affirms that the UAE has empowered woman to join the highest levels of education, culture, rehabilitation, and training. This is in addition to the opportunity provided to woman to enter administrative and technical fields, as well as the leading and high executive positions in the governmental and private sectors, the study says.
then there's this from Al Bawaba:
