Any registered user can choose her or his default theme, and any new themes will be added to our existing two.

This question relates to what unregistered users will see -- the first impression!

Your input counts. This is a place to sound off! What do you like? What don't you like?

...and will remain open for 3 more days. If votes begin to shift one way or the other, we'll try to keep up with it.

Other ideas for color themes are welcome, too.

First, thank you Media Girl for making different themes available.

If you are a person who likes a lot of change, and you use Firefox and install Grease Monkey it is possible to change the way any website looks as often as you feel like creating a new script.

On the Grease Monkey Moin Moin Wiki you can find script to tone down the orange on dkos, add buttons to gmail, and spruce up delicious.

To install the scripts, click on the link of your choice - you will see a page of code. Next, on your Firefox Toolbar click "Tools" and "Install User Script" and "OK". When revisit the site, it should appear different.

I will start working on a template for this site and then people can modify the appearance as they choose. In the mean time, if you like cool software tricks, you might like playing with the codes that others have offered on the Wiki.

i dont want to create more work for you laura. you are doing so much already. but it would be nice to have our default color scheme be unique, for "branding" purposes.

i'm happy to leave the color choices in your talented, creative hands.

i love pinkers but i do see andi at boo expressing difficulty reading it. i suppose the hot pink/bright magenta might do that on some displays. so maybe the darker tones produce better readiabilty on a wider range of diplays.

I LOVE the pink, but I keep wanting the pink letters to have a drop shadow or something. Maybe Andi has my dyslexia.

...and the pink is positively electric. Last weekend it looked fine. But it began to vibrate, so I came up with the alternative.

Since I started some criticism of the pinkers at booman, I thought I should register and make my comments as a member.

The problem I had was that for some reason the edges of the letter in the pink scheme will slightly indistinct and the color seemed to have some glare. I have a 19" lcd so I don't think it was the monitor quality. OTOH, I wear bifocals so it could just be my crappy eyes.

The goddess is much better and the edges are very distinct.

I won't offer any alternate color schemes as I have no taste.

BTW, glad to be here.

It's very helpful. I'll look at perhaps darkening the pinkers theme a bit. Macs typically read web colors brigher, so it's especially electric to me. Otherwise the fonts are the same, so it must be a color thing and not a font thing.

We'll get it ... eventually.

Earth goddess is better. I didn't like the pink, although with Firefox on a PC running XP pro it looked fine. For me, the less fussy the better. It's easier to read.

I don't think you have it (can't tell because I use adblock), but the thing I urge you most to avoid is moving images. Terribly distracting.

I appreciate all the work you are doing to build this site and make it inviting.

I don't care for any of them (though I do have Blogads on my site). Thanks for the feedback.
