I'm so desparently trying to reach out to all people who will take the time to listen. Where is the justice when protecting one child harms another? As a mother my mind can not even comprehend the devastation of having harm done to my children. It is a terrible thing when our children are ubducted or sexually assaulted by a person, but not all people on our National Sex Offender Registry is dangerous or even a mere threat to our communities. Why then should they be labeled as so? The truth is only a small percent of offenders are truely dangerous. Most abusers of children are family members not strangers, so why are we worried about the guy down the street? This is what I believe. People are basing their fears on myths rather on facts. If you don't believe me then do what I did, ask someone what thier definition of a sex offender is. The several responses I got was all the same. Most people believe that all sex offenders are some what of a older man that forced sex upon a small child or even killed them. They don't realize that alot of young men and women who by no diffinition is a pedophile are labled as dangerous and made to register. Therefore, that puts thier families in danger. These people are fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, and friends. How can we allow this? Children of registered sex offenders have no life, so where's the justice? We have to protect all children! The National Sex Offender Registry is doing more harm than good.
