Peanut Butter Wiki

a link recommended by DreamOfPeace on August 6, 2005 - 8:53am

If you ever dreamed of having free space online there is always Blogger, but if you would like something that is both free and private, take a look at PeanutButterWiki. You are aloud to have as many wikis as you like and you can choose to expose your creation to the public or not as you choose.

I don't know how they can afford to do this for free, but get it while its hot.

Dadahead takes apart Wingnut metaphysics

a link recommended by Madman in the M... on July 30, 2005 - 2:40pm

Dadahead is one of my favorite blogs. Good links, sharp commentary. A taste:

So what the anti-choice movement is trying to do is to impose the normative implications of their pet metaphysical theory (highly influenced by their pet religious ideology) on the rest of society, without giving us any reason to believe that their theory is, you know, true. It is as if I were to decide that teddy bears are actually conscious, highly emotional beings who hate to be left alone, and then trying to pass laws that would make it illegal to neglect your teddy bear.

Oxfam

a link recommended by media girl on July 25, 2005 - 6:15pm

The UN organization that manages the massive humanitarian disasters that hit our indifferent planet year after year. As I write this, Niger is facing a crisis far worse than the tsunami:

UN appeals remain dangerously under-funded with only one third of the money needed from international donors pledged. In many cases, even the pledges that have been made have not translated into money arriving. The failure to fund these appeals is putting lives at risk.

Oxfam experts in Niger are setting up a $2 million food support program. Vouchers will be distributed to 130,000 people which can be traded for food with local traders. Plans are also in place to help 28,000 nomadic herders to buy new animals for a fair price.
