Roberts, who s been no friend of women s rights in the courtroom, argued inside and outside the courtroom that abortion clinics and their clients did not deserve the protection of the federal government. His argument was reminiscent of the pro-slavery position advocated in 1856 when Dred Scott pled for his freedom, resulting in the infamous Supreme Court decision that declared that Scott, as a black man, had no rights under federal law.
