Revenge of the penis.

words by Stephanie posted September 25, 2005 - 5:34pm

Just had to pass this along ... Lovely Rita. Snopes says it's for real. I think it's hilarious.

So, if Katrina was an angry fetus, what is Rita's problem? Has it been awhile? Or does she have penis envy or something?

This guy weeping on Meet the Press this morning is heartwrenching. I don't have the words right now.

The choice war.

words by Stephanie posted September 1, 2005 - 6:25pm

It's a shame that we have to fight with those we thought were on our side over something as fundamental as choice but I'm all in favor of us throwing our weight around on this issue. We are the base, we are the majority, and we need to speak up. Here are a few links I thought we should all be aware of.

Morgaine calls for solidarity against Kos (and his ilk) and to stand united to ensure that the Democrats hear our voice:
What she Said!

Artificial wombs.

From foetus to full term - without a mother's touch

Sorry to be a blog hog today but what do you all think about the potential development of fetuses developing in artificial wombs? An article from the Times today says:

ARTIFICIAL wombs, to bring a foetus of a human being to full term outside a woman s body, could become a reality within 20 years, scientists have predicted.

My initial reaction: as someone who wants children but is not eager to go through 9 months of pregnancy and horrendously painful childbirth, I'm rather excited about the possibility. Although I can definitely see that it raises a lot of other issues and questions. And I really can't imagine that such a technology could really be equal or superior to a natural womb. But who knows?

Christians for Life weigh in on Katrina

words by Stephanie posted August 30, 2005 - 3:34pm

Pro-lifers are starting to sound disgustingly similar to Fred Phelps and his ilk. Here they are responding to Hurricane Katrina: I do not make this shit up!

The image of the hurricane above with its eye already ashore at 12:32 PM Monday, August 29 looks like a fetus (unborn human baby) facing to the left (west) in the womb, in the early weeks of gestation (approx. 6 weeks). Even the orange color of the image is reminiscent of a commonly used pro-life picture of early prenatal development (see sign with picture of 8-week pre-born human child below). In this picture, and in another picture in today's on-line edition of USA Today*, this hurricane looks like an unborn human child.
